Insurance

Patients often ask if their cosmetic procedure might be covered by insurance.
Health plans and individual circumstances vary widely. Most insurance policies will not cover any cosmetic procedure, unless it involves a cosmetic defect which significantly impacts function of the body part in question. An example of that is the correction of a deviated septum with rhinoplasty (nose job), where the procedure may be covered at least in part by insurance. Since a deviated septum can negatively affect a patient’s breathing this type of correction would likely be covered. However, the part of the surgery which involves correcting of cosmetic aspects of the appearance of the nose would not be covered.
