IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is a revolutionary treatment used to improve the skin by reducing sun-induced skin damage through the power of photo rejuvenation. This non-surgical treatment uses multiple wavelengths of pulsed light to effectively stimulate the deeper layers of the skin. The light is then absorbed by the pigmented (colored) cells in the skin so that brown and red pigments (ie. sun spots and age spots, rosacea, freckles, and capillaries) are reduced. IPL is a safe, effective, and gentle way to get long-lasting results that can visibly improve your skin’s appearance. IPL requires no downtime for recovery after the procedure, so you can get right back to your life.
IPL is performed with or without a topical anesthetic, which is optional. Next, a cooling gel is applied that reduces the heat from the IPL hand piece. We use precisely calibrated light waves–and customize our treatments to each patient needs and skin types. Treatment typically takes between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the area(s) being treated. Some redness after the procedure may be present, but typically fades within the hour. Most patients find four to six treatments placed three to four weeks a part to be the most effective for achieving their desired results.
